change or remove bios password
There are many different ways to remove the BIOS password. You may have forgotten the password of your BIOS or you never knew it, whatever may be the case is. Sometimes it becomes necessary to access the BIOS to change system settings.
The simplest way to remove the BIOS password is to remove the CMOS battery for few seconds.A computer uses this battery to remember its settings and date & time when your computer is turned off. The CMOS battery is the reason why you always get the correct date and time whenever you restart your PC.
When you remove it from your CPU the computer will forget all the settings which includes BIOS password too. So to reset/ remove your BIOS password you just have to remove this battery once and then put it back after few seconds.
If you don’t know how to do this or if you are not familiar with computer hardware & stuff then you can try using this software - PC CMOS Cleaner .
PC CMOS Cleaner is an easy-to-use tool to recover, delete, decode and display the superior passwords stored in BIOS whatever the brand is. Most types of BIOS are supported. It’s an bootable CD that runs on x86 and x86_64 computers. No need to pay expensive fees to experts. It’s a useful tool for users to get their lost BIOS password back, or clean passwords from an old computer bought from others. The download file is an iso file so first you have to burn it on a cd and then boot from that cd to recover your BIOS password.

For a Safer, faster XP Close Unwanted Services
To disable unneeded startup services for a safer, faster XP, use the "Services" Admin Tool (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services). If you are a single user of a non-networked machine, you can disable the following items, with no ill effect.
Alerter
Clipbook
Computer Browser
Fast User Switching
Human Interface Access Devices
Indexing Service (Slows the hard drive down)
Messenger
Net Logon (unnecessary unless networked on a Domain)
Netmeeting Remote Desktop Sharing (disabled for extra security)
Remote Desktop Help Session Manager (disabled for extra security)
Remote Procedure Call Locator

How to Convert FAT to NTFS file system
To convert a FAT partition to NTFS, perform the following steps.
Click Start, click Programs, and then click Command Prompt.
Click Start, click Programs, and then click Command Prompt.
In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type cmd and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type CONVERT [driveletter]: /FS:NTFS.
Convert.exe will attempt to convert the partition to NTFS.
NOTE: Although the chance of corruption or data loss during the conversion from FAT to NTFS is minimal, it is best to perform a full backup of the data on the drive that it is to be converted prior to executing the convert command. It is also recommended to verify the integrity of the backup before proceeding, as well as to run RDISK and update the emergency repair disk (ERD).
Administrator Unable to Unlock a "Locked" Computer
This behavior can occur for either of the following reasons: When the default screen saver is set to use a non-existent screen saver program. And/or When you use a corrupted screen saver that is password protected. More Information.
The following registry setting is received every time the computer is locked: Start/Run/RegeditHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
ForceUnlockLogon
REG_DWORD
0 - Do not force authentication inline (default)
1 - Require online authentication to unlock
The preceding value controls whether a full logon is performed during the unlock process. This can force a validation at the domain controller for the user attempting the unlock process.
NOTE: If the value is not present, it functions as if it had been set to 0 (zero).
To use the shortcut, press the Windows logo key+L. The following list has different computer lock-up scenarios that are available to you, as well as other ways to lock the computer: Click Here.
Create a Shortcut to Lock Computer
Right click a blank space on the desktop, select new, shortcut. Copy and Paste this line: "rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation" in the program location box. Click next and create a name for your shortcut, click finish.
Lock the Taskbar
This restriction is used to force the locking of the taskbar and restrict users from making any changes to its position. Start/Run/Regedit: Navigate to this key and create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, called 'LockTaskbar' and edit the value according to the settings below. Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
